We are back and still obsessing over Bad Bunny’s halftime performance. Sadly, the news keeps newsing so let’s chat.
We’re joined by Kari Ferrell, a producer, writer, speaker, activist, and creator. She is the author of the memoir, YOU’LL NEVER BELIEVE ME: A Life of Lies, Second Tries, and Other Things I Should Only Tell My Therapist.
Here is the latest:
Ghislane Maxwell testified to Congress yesterday, but it consisted of 20 minutes of her invoking her Fifth Amendment. After, her lawyer released a statement offering Maxwell’s testimony in exchange for clemency from Trump. She claims she can fully clear Presidents Trump and Clinton from any wrongdoing.
Meanwhile, Reps Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie were among the few members of Congress who have gotten access to the unredacted Epstein files, and from their initial pass, it’s bad. In fact, even Congresswoman Lauren Boebert gave intel into what she has seen.
The Ghosts of Housewives Past have remerged to lead the charge in the racist rants on the Bad Bunny Super Bowl Halftime and it’s not going over well. The narrative from our conversation last week on the NFL knowing this would ONLY help their bottom line continues, but so does the love we had for all things Benito on Sunday night. Viva America (allllllll of America).
You may ask yourself, my God, how did we get here? Jamelle Bouie joins us to discuss how we ended up in Trump 2.0 and what ACTUALLY moves the needle in politics. Spoiler alert, ya gotta show up and show out.
Jamelle Bouie is a columnist for The New York Times, where he covers history and politics. Previously, he was chief political correspondent at Slate and has written for The American Prospect and The Daily Beast. He also co-hosts the podcast Unclear and Present Danger, which examines political and military thrillers of the 1990s.
Jamelle joins us on the heels of Republican members of Congress finally saying what many have said for decades, Trump does racist shit. The video Trump posted that depicted President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama as apes actually saw some criticism for Trump from his own party. The question remains, will this see any longterm implications for Trump? Second spoiler alert, probably not.
We also get into why Megyn Kelly loves a crash out, what the Spanish Flu can teach us about where we are now, and why Trump’s 2024 election win wasn’t the massive cultural shift that the Administration thought it would be.
BTW, want to show up and show out for your community and feel like you’re moving the needle? Become a poll worker! Resources for all 50 states plus DC are linked here.

Kari has a NEW internet safe space, Midevil Mindset, where she’s learning how history is in fact, always repeating itself.
Rebecca has discovered Surya Bonaly and it has her backflipping for joy to see this figure skating badass FINALLY get her flowers.
