Today’s theme is ACCOUNTABILITY and there is no one better to discuss that with then Olivia Howell.
You technically CAN spell divorce with out Olivia Howell but it wouldn’t be half as easy. We know Olivia from Fresh Starts Registry, the first-ever divorce and life-transition registry that helps people rebuild their homes and lives after separation with expert support and practical essentials. Olivia has also led initiatives on the importance of educating women in voting that have legitimately broken the internet (and some men’s brains).
Let’s chat about the news:
Andrew Mountbatten Windsor is perhaps the first head to start to truly roll in the latest release of the Epstein Files. His arrest on Thursday for suspicion of misconduct while in public office is however not related to the allegations of sex trafficking. His brother King Charles has made it crystal clear where the Royal Family stands on Andrew’s arrest and let’s just say, he isn’t going to be Andrew’s phone call in jail.
What do we want? Women to have limited access to voting! When do we want it? By the 2026 Midterms! The SAVE Act passed in the House last week and while it’s under the guise of weeding out voter fraud it will also create serious barriers for voters, in particular women who have changed their last names.
Turns out Trump tariffs do violate the Constitution! The Supreme Court handed down their decision this morning and Trump is to put it bluntly, PISSED. He referred to the justices who voted against him as “lapdogs” which friendly reminder, two of them are people he nominated.
We always ask is this illegal? And we finally found someone who is saying, it might be! Brendan Ballou is a former federal prosecutor and founder of the Public Integrity Project and he arrives just in time to answer our questions about Trump’s new banner on the DOJ.
Meredith was first introduced to Brendan when she read his fantastic book, Plunder, a must read for anyone who wants to see the realities of private equity in the 21st Century.
Earlier this week Brendan announced his latest project, the Public Integrity Project, which will be bringing law suits against the corporations and individuals that bribe government officials, and the government officials who take those bribes. First up, they are looking into Trump’s inaugural committee which took donations from companies like Amazon and Meta.
We also ask Brendan about Trump’s latest purchase from Kinko’s, a giant banner of himself that has been strung up in front of the Department of Justice. His take on the banner is something that might surprise you.
We close with asking Brendan about the legacy of January 6th, as one of the prosecutors of the rioters he offers a unique perspective as to why the memory of January 6th isn’t going away any time soon.
For our Moments:
Olivia is LOVING the new Reformation line from the Laura Wasser.
Rebecca is equally horrified and fascinated by the Kid Rock and RFK Jr collab that truly no one asked for.
Meredith can’t get enough of Alysa Liu bringing home the gold for US, but on her own badass terms.
As always, do us a favor, follow our guests, Olivia Howell and Brendan Ballou.
