Does ICE Have Absolute Immunity? Katie Phang On The Trump Reaction To The Minneapolis Shooting, The Latest On The Epstein Files, And Why Some Conspiracies Are Probably Just Facts.

The New York Times spent the better part of a day with Trump, how the hell do you find the funny right now, and what's the truth with journalist and legal expert, Katie Phang.

Well, that was a week. We are nine days into 2026, and it’s off to an unhinged but perhaps unsurprising start. We bring in comedy icon, Laurie Kilmartin, to help us break down the news without breaking down.

You know Laurie Kilmartin from her Hulu special, Cis Woke Grief Slut, and all her fantastic late-night writing, she’s here and ready to remind us why 9 out of 10 cradle Catholics can’t stand JD Vance.

Here’s what’s happening in the news:

  • The New York Times spent the day with Trump, and it was revealing. Firstly, he tells us that we are being kept in check by a little system called “his own morality,” to which we say, Which photo of you with Epstein should we link to? But seriously, Trump had a lot to say in this hour-long interview about Venezuela, Greenland, and oddly enough, the Dulles Airport? It’s worth a read.

  • As we gear up for the Golden Globes how the HELL do you write a joke when the world is crumbling. Laurie is not new to this, she is true to this and explains why writing for awards show is NOT for the faint of heart.

Half truths and lies hate to see her coming, legal expert and journalist Katie Phang is in the house today to break down what we have seen from Minneapolis over the last 72 hours.

You might have first met Katie Phang on her MSNBC where she hosted The Katie Phang Show, now she’s on your phone and in your feed with Katie Phang News.

Katie breaks down how the footage of the Minneapolis shooting does not match with the rhetoric and reactions of the Trump Administration. Additionally, if J.D. Vance says he doesn’t wear eyeliner do you believe him? NO. So if he says that ICE has absolute immunity should we believe him? Also, NO.

Meanwhile, although other stories have led the news this week, there are some big updates in the Epstein case, including subpoenas to Les Wexner and the Epstein Estate.

For our MOMENTS:

Rebecca: Australia is willing to roll 100 kangaroos deep to come help us, but is that the answer?

Laurie: The women of Iran are giving us life, AND bringing back smoking.

Meredith: Wonders if her ex-boyfriend Josh Hawley is ready to rumble against Trump. **Meredith never dated Josh Hawley.

Maybe the only cure for this hellscape of a week is getting outta the house, and if you’re in LA we highly suggest Laurie’s show sponsored by big baking, she is making you kids cookies, come through.

Tickets here!

As always we ask that you follow our fabulous guests, Laurie Kilmartin and Katie Phang!
